Moving Tips and Checklist

Moving is one of the most dreaded and daunting tasks that no one ever enjoys doing. Sifting through piles of clothes, packing up boxes, loading up the truck, trying to find what box you put your coffee maker in because you need caffeine, unloading the truck, changing mail addresses, etc. ...moving is a nightmare. The key to making moving slightly more bearable is solid planning. Mapping out a schedule of your move will help make the process easier.

Follow these tips and tricks to help make your move less stressful.

Preparation and Planning

Your first step in the moving process should begin about 2 months before the actual move date. The early stages of moving should revolve around research and planning. You should be calling around to local moving companies and gathering quotes for their services to find a company that fits your needs. If you are moving to a new town or city, research local banks, schools, and hospitals and get all the necessary paperwork you may need.

Boxes are the most affordable way to pack your belongings in a neat and organized manner. To save money, you can visit your local grocery stores and ask if they have any extra boxes. Build up your box inventory with different sizes so you have a variety to choose from when it's time to start packing.

Make a List, Check it Twice

Nothing feels as good as being able to cross things off a list you have made; no matter how small the task, it feels good to get stuff done. Planning for moving should begin weeks ahead of time, so don'tprocrastinate; get started sooner, rather than later.
